Station selection proceeds as in other CLIMOD products. Note that normals are not available for all stations; only those with fairly complete data for the normal period.
Checkboxes are used to select the variables of interest. The initial selection matrix includes 1971-2000 normals (thirty-year averages) and standard deviations for maximum temperature, minimum temperature, average temperature, HDD, CDD, and total precipitation. For precipitation, there is also an option for "precipitation percentiles". This option produces a table of the monthly/annual precipitation amounts associated with the following percentiles: .005, .01, .05, .10, .20, .30, .40, .50, .60, .70, .80, .90, .95, .99, .995. The .01 percentile, for instance, is the amount of precipitation that on the average would fail to be exceeded during a given month once in 100 years.
The "More options" button will produce a more extensive variable selection matrix. The normal period can be set to either 1961-1990 or 1971-2000. In addition to the values in the initial matrix, selections are also available for medians, 21-year and 11-year values, factors for adjusting temperatures to approximate a midnight observation time, and the 30 years of values that went into the normals computation. Additional elements are HDD and CDD for bases other than 65. For HDD, these bases are 70, 65, 60, 57, 55, 50, 45, 43, 40, 35, 32 and 30. For CDD, the bases are 80, 75, 70, 65, 60, 57, 55, 50, 45, 43, 40 and 32. [Currently HDD and CDD to different bases are only available for the 1961-1990 period.]
